What is the minimum age you take for guitar lessons?

5 years old is usually the youngest that we take due to coordination issues although we are willing to try kids younger at parents request. Please be aware we will refuse to teach if we think that it isn't quite the right time for them and invite you back later.

Do I need my own guitar?

You are very welcome to use one of our guitars in the lesson initially to see if guitar playing is for you. Once you have decided that regular lessons are for you we advise you to invest in an affordable guitar so that you can practice at home.

How do I pay?

You can pay cash at the lesson or beforehand via Paypal or bank transfer. Please see your tutor for details.

Can I park at the school?

We are surrounded by car parks so there is always space. It is pay and display but this is free after 6pm weekdays andyou get 3 hours free on a Saturday.

What do I need to bring to my lesson?

All you need is your guitar and a sense of humour. If you use picks then please bring those too. It is understandable to be a little nervous before your lesson but we will do our best to put you at ease. Remember we were sat in that seat too at some point so we know how it feels.

Can I sit in the lesson with my child?

Of course you can, we find it beneficial with younger students as you can see what they are learning and help with their homework. You are free to leave your child with us provided we have an up to date telephone number and are aware of any issues that may arise.

How long does it take to learn guitar?

This is the big question we get asked alot. The answer is it depends on how much time you spend on it. There really are no short cuts and learning to play involves a lot of time and repetition. Students that accept this tend to learn better than students that try to do 4 lessons a week. We can only show you what you need to practice, we can't do the practice for you. Your practice will take years. Sorry, but you wanted the truth. The good news is that guitar playing gets easier the more you do it and although it will take many years to perfect it doen't mean that you have to have lessons all the time.

Do I need a left handed guitar if I'm left handed?

In our experience, most left handed people can successfully play a right handed guitar. The reason why this is an option to consider is that left handed guitars don't have as big a choice as right handed and they generally cost more. If you start to play left handed you will struggle to change later down the line. We will be able to tell in the first 5 minutes if you really need a left handed guitar.
